Paradise Found: A Gay Couple’s Dream Escape to Khao Lak

Imagine this, darling travelers—a getaway where the transport is swift, the beaches are pristine, and the warm breeze wraps around you like a lover’s caress. This is our flirty, fabulous narrative about an unforgettable sojourn to Khao Lak, a gem nestled quietly but confidently on Thailand’s west coast.

Pack your bags with that perfect beachwear and let’s shake off the mundane. Our adventure begins at Phuket Airport, a mere 90-minute drive from Khao Lak—yes, shorter than the trip to the bustling Patong. It’s a hop, skip, and a jump to serenity with out all the traffic and headache of getting around Phuket Island!

The Quick Journey From Phuket to Khao Lak

Arriving at Phuket’s airport, we were swept into a comfortable ride in a Toyota Camery for THB 750 for two of us. We used the Airport Taxi service, which is licensed, and easilly avaiable on your arrival at the airport at two desks when you exit the terminal. A little bit of comfort for a drive that took us through emerald hills and glimpses of turquoise waters, whispering promises of what was to come. Plenty of time to hold hands, gaze dreamily out the window, and swap stories about past trips while eagerly awaiting Casa de La Flora.

Our Luxurious Stay at Casa de La Flora

Casa de La Flora is a dream come true, offering an expansive oceanfront suite pool villa that would make even the most seasoned travelers swoon. These sleek, slate-grey cube villas—34 in total—are stunning! They’re designed with floor-to-ceiling glass facades that invite the endless horizon into your personal space. Each villa feels like a private slice of paradise, close enough to the crashing waves that you can hear their soothing lullaby.

Inside our villa, every detail spoke of luxury and comfort. The plush bedroom was our sanctuary, complete with a bathroom that invited indulgence with its two-person bathtub and rain shower. The private pool beckoned us to take midnight dips under the starry sky—a perfect setting for the evenings ahead.

Culinary Delights

The villa catered to our whims and culinary desires. We started each day sipping champagne and enjoying a breakfast buffet, delivered with a smile right to our room. Picture this—pancakes, fresh fruit, eggs any style, and, of course, bubbles. It felt decadent, yet lovingly intimate.

Lunch was an oceanfront affair, featuring the freshest seafood we could imagine. Lobsters, crabs, prawns—each bite a testament to the region’s bounty. Dining while soaking up the view of the Andaman Sea, we felt like kings in a kingdom of azure waves being elegantly pampered with some of our favourite seafood dishes, along side amazing free lowing muddled Mojito cocktails.

Romantic Solitude and Unforgettable Sunsets

One of the highlights of our stay was simply spending time together, lounging by the pool or on the beach with nobody else in sight. The privacy afforded us an unparalleled sense of freedom, allowing us to reconnect away from prying eyes. We relished the sound of the waves, the rustling palms, and the sight of the sun dipping below the horizon in a riot of colors.

These quiet moments were treasures, marking the beauty of simplicity—just us, nature, and an infinite sky.

Exploring Khao Lak

Not ones to miss an adventure, we ventured into town to soak up the local culture and stock up on essentials. The vibe was laid-back and welcoming, Local shopkeepers greeted us warmly, and the whole town is small and simple, but has a good selection of bars and local restaurants as some more catering to the western flavour. We loved exploring the quaint boutiques and sampling street food. Every corner held a new delight, a hidden gem. 7-11 is your key go to here (as in most of Thailand) its got everything you need to keep you going from Drinks and Booze, Hair Conditioner to Lube, Sim Cards and event super cheap disposable smart phones, and huge selection of instant food which while many may turn their nose up at, its remarkably good staple of many living in Thailand for quick good and simple meal. Most improtant the 7-11 is typically always the home of a ATM if you ever need to get money out.

Best time to expolore Gay Khao Lak

Visiting in the early dry season (November to February) ensures stunning weather making it perfect for couples looking to escape. However we have also travelled earlier in the rainy season for a gay romantic weekend in Khao Lak and the spots of rain to down right tropical downpour is just part of the amazing charm and can even make the stay better with a different atmosphere.
