Our dining experience at YEN, the W Hotels renowned Chinese restaurant, is nothing short of spectacular. Located on the top floor of the hotel this rooftop restaurant is the place to be seen, and exudes style, sophistication, to the point that your not focused on the view at all. Our favourite must have dish here is the wasabi tempura prawns—a dish that’s both daring and delightful. The succulent suckling pig and roasted duck are showstoppers, each bite more heavenly than the last. It’s an ideal setting for a lavish feast with friends for when you need to remind yourself that yoursel fabulous with amazing food and great glass of Champagne.

The Allure of Addiction Aquatic Development – A Seafood Lover’s Paradise

Addiction Aquatic Development is our slice of heaven as seafood lovers, and it’s a must-visit on every trip. Its a little bit out of Taipei, so you need to really take a taxi, but no issue and its only a 15 – 20 minuite drive. As you walk in via the market zone, with water tanks full of live king crabs, hundreds if not thousands of them, live fish and more. Walk though the main retail section and there is an amazing Japanese sushi and sahimi counter restaurant, with the most increadable selection. Fancy somehting liltle more simple, you can just go to the pre-prepared fridges and get take away king crab already cut ready to eat, or a sashimmi platter to go, or amazingly succulent prawns. You pay for everythign at the check out counter like in a supermakret, and there are outdoor stand up dining where you can enjoy the seafood bounty you just purchased. If you fancy something a bit more ‘restaurant’ style then head to outdoor sit down grill restaurant where you pick the seafood you want from Lobster to King Prawns, fresh seabass to scolllps or oysters and the chef will cook to order and server you at the tables. We always take time to wander through the market, savoring each offering with unabashed delight. This culinary haven is not just a meal; it’s an experience that tantalizes all the senses and always excites me when we go there.

Upon entering, you’re greeted by dim, ambient lighting that dances off the rustic wooden interiors, creating an ambiance both cozy and chic. The menu boasts a mix of international and local dishes, with the chef’s special being a must-try. Each plate is a work of art, designed to tantalize both the eyes and the taste buds. Paired with a curated selection of wines, Gourmet Hideout promises an exquisite dining affair that’s sure to make sparks fly.

For a more robust meal, head to SOL Bistro in Red House, always bustling with energy.

Dont forget to exlore the upper level of complex for more hidden bars, underware boutiques, and more. Level 2 is also the location of the famous Commander D, be it the “lite” version, the more exciting and pulsating Commander D is located 5 mins away in the heart of Ximending.

Cool outdoor bar in Red House, with good music, heavy drinks and cocktails, and the perfect look out for those wanting to people watch and soak up the atmosphere.

Café Dalida

Nestled right next to G Paradise, CafĂ© Dalida is where the chic go to sip, see, and be seen in a fabulous outdoor setting (complete with heating for those cooler nights). It’s the perfect spot to kick off a flirty night or indulge in some delightful people-watching. Keep an eye out for their theme nights—when we visited, there was a drag show that was pure fun! While it might not rival RuPaul’s Drag Race, it’s a dazzling spectacle that’s not to be missed.

Commander D

Known as a BDSM bar, Commander D is where your wildest fantasies come to life. Situated not far from Red House, this sultry spot is tucked away in a lower basement. It’s dimly lit (but not too dark), buzzing with a late-night crowd ready to revel. Choose your night wisely as they host various theme nights, ensuring there’s something naughty for everyone. The bar is divided into a front zone and a more intimate back zone, complete with a daring dark room for when the mood strikes.

Hunt

If you’re seeking one of the best gay nights out in Taipei, look no further than Hunt. This basement bar is the epicenter of themed events and revelry, hosting enticing parties like Wrestling, Towel Party, and Underwear Party. First-timers, fret not—there’s a locker area to stash your belongings (though it’s in a public space), and the bar operates on a voucher/ticket system, eliminating the need to carry cash. Located just 10 minutes from Ximending’s main center, the crowd is distinctly local, and the atmosphere is irresistibly cheeky. We arrived early, around 11pm, and by the time we left at 2am, the place was packed with a line snaking down the street. Plan ahead for a night of unbridled fun!
